The job opportunity
We have an opening for a new team member who has recently graduated with a computer science or engineering degree. The applicant must have experience in Linux, web development, Python, good OO coding practices, AJAX and CSS. Experience with Zope and Plone would be a plus.
Good verbal and written communications skills is important to be able to provide responsive, high quality support to our clients.
Role responsibilities include:
- Assistance with the development of customised websites based on the Plone content management system (CMS). This work will mainly involve translating graphical website designs into 'skinned' versions of Plone and modifying and debugging Plone products in order to develop the Plone-based web applications that our clients require.
- Providing end user and second level technical support so good social and customer skills are essential.
- Managing large scale, high volume multiple Plone websites on shared platforms.
- Assistance with completing tenders, specifically responding to technical specifications by detailing how Plone solutions complies with the tender requirements.
Additional background:
We are a small and flexible team and, while we each have our specialist subject areas, we also often find ourselves taking on additional roles as necessary in order to get our work done and keep our clients satisfied. While the main responsibilities of this post are outlined above, applicants who demonstrate a sincere enthusiasm for open source technology will be considered favourably.
A strong interest in open source technologies is an attribute we require. The successful applicant must be highly self motivated, innovative, reliable and be able to work effectively with others in a team.
